We are living in times, when education becomes a very important thing, if we want to have a good start in our adult life. While applying for a job, a university degree might be the fact that decides whether we get it or not. So it is very important that everybody has a chance to widen their knowledge.
The number of public schools and public universities results not enough, as the population grows. That means that only for the most talented people (or those who are very lucky) education is free. And what about the rest? Should they go to terms with the situation and not bother about their future? Of course, who has enough money and can afford a private school, is not very interested in the problem. But dozens of people are in a difficult financial situation and though, they want to be educated. For them not passing entrance exams to a public university can cause big problems and even have a great negative influence on their future life.
In Poland, the percentage of people who have a university degree is still very low. And what would happen if all the students were forced to pay for their education? We would soon be witnesses of a sudden decrease in the number of students, which obviously would make the matters worse.
In my opinion, free university education should be accessible for all, if we want to be a civilized country.
